My Top 5 Hot Chocolate Recipes

Is there anything better than a piping hot mug of hot chocolate on a cold, wintry day? In my opinion, it’s the best winter drink out there! What’s great about a hot chocolate is that there are so many ways to customize the drink to your liking. Whether you want to add marshmallows on top or some peppermint essence to add a kick to your drink, the possibilities to customize are endless! Below are my top 5 recipes for making hot chocolate to your liking.

#1 - The Original Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

2 cups milk

2 tbsp sugar

4 oz bittersweet chocolate (chopped)

Splash of vanilla extract (optional)

Whipped cream (optional)

Marshmallows (optional)



#2 Peppermint Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups heavy cream

1 ½ cups milk

¼ cup sugar

1/8 teaspoon salt

6 ounces bittersweet chocolate (chopped)

3 drops of peppermint oil

Sweetened whipped cream (optional)

Chocolate shavings (optional)


#3 Unicorn Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

3 cups whole milk

2 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

8 ounces white chocolate (chopped)

Red or pink food coloring

Blue frosting, sprinkles, marshmallows, and whipped cream (optional)




#4 Chai Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups unsweetened soy milk

1.8 oz dairy-free dark chocolate (chopped)

2 Tbsp Dutch processed cocoa powder

1 Tbsp granulated sugar

1 Tbsp fresh ginger (sliced)

3 cinnamon sticks

6 cardamom pods (cracked)

4 whole cloves

1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional)

Chocolate shavings (optional)

Cinnamon stick (optional)

Whipped cream (optional)


#5 Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

1/3 cup heavy whipping cream

¼ cup milk chocolate chips

1 teaspoon cocoa powder

1 ½ teaspoon pumpkin puree

¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

¼ cup whipped cream

1 pinch ground cinnamon

1 pinch ground nutmeg
